Your observation is correct 95 ). The answer in brief is: "in the natural ovulation proces hCG is not involved". Other hormones are involved. The sequence of events is: first the Ovulation then, Conception (=fertilization of the ovum), Implantation (=attachment to the uterine wall), Chorion/Placenta development, and last the Production of Chorion Gonadotropin (hCG) by the Chorion.
That raises the Questions: "What is the real function of hCG?" and "How can hCG still induce ovulation as practised for infertile women?"
The real mission and proper application for hCG is to assure optimal conditions for the development of the embryo, later fetus, in the uterus. Among these provisions is the ability to set free, fat stored in special depots of the mother.
How can hCG still induce ovulation? The hCG can mimic the hormone 97 ) that normally should induce ovulation 96 ). Sometimes the trick is effective. To increase the success rate an old hunter's habit is applied: if you cannot hit the target with one bullet, use a shot-cartridge. Yes, generally speaking this is true if the doctor does not keep speed and extent of the weightloss under close control. Dr. F.L.L.M. Merckelbach, who introduced the Simeons cure some 40 years ago in this part of the world, briefly explains in his authorized 1967 version of Simeon's book "Pounds and Inches. A New Approach to Obesity" how to deal with the gallstones risk.
The body has tuned the liver to produce the average amount of gall required. This is stored in the gall bladder. If by a severe diet the gall is used less, or not at all, the balance is disturbed and the gall in the bladder might form gallstones. The body gradually will retune the liver to the lower demand but needs time for retuning. Moreover the gallbladder needs a small minimum amount of fat in the intestine tract for proper action.
The small daily amount of fat is included in the components listed in the Simeons diet.
The time needed for retuning is provided by the chosen combination of hCG-injections doses and the 500kCal diet.
The extent of weightloss is controlled by adjusting the length of the hCG-cures and the length of the hCG-less breaks.
